Mark Your Calendar for a morning of running and socializing at the MRU 14th annual Devil’s Throne Fun Run.  This will also be the AUGUST HANDICAP RUN for the Albuquerque Road Runners Club

WHEN:  Saturday morning, August 13th, 2010, 9:00 AM

WHERE: Cerrillos, New Mexico

We encourage walkers and runners to join us on Saturday morning, August 13th in beautiful Cerrillos, New Mexico where we will run or walk up the “hill from hell”, Devil’s Throne.  The measured distance for the event is 5 miles, but you may run or walk as far as you like. Water and light snacks will be provided at the end of the run in Cerrillos.

We will enjoy a meal together at the Greenside Café, 12165 Hwy14, in Cedar Crest following the run/walk.
Once again, we will be giving a prize for the best dressed devil. It will be hard to beat Glenda's costume of last year but this is your challenge!

We want to remain as unobtrusive as possible so as not to bother the town folk in the quiet community of Cerrillos.  We will park and begin the run on the trail just west of town and north of the tracks.  To arrive as this location, take I-40 east to Tijeras.  Travel north from Tijeras on old Highway 14.  You will pass by Cedar Crest, Golden, and Madrid.  When you arrive in Cerrillos (about 3 miles north of Madrid) you will be driving in on Main Street.  Make the first right had turn onto First Street.  You will cross the railroad tracks and make the first left onto Waldo Canyon Road.  You will drive a short distance crossing a cattle guard and then a ravine/gully.  There is a grove of trees immediately to the right.  We will park there and begin and finish the run at that location.

This fun run replaces the 15k and 5K event that Gil Duran sponsored and managed for years in memory of his grandfather.
