Most runners here in Albuquerque look at the
long, cold months ahead of us and see very
few opportunities to compete in local races.
To meet this need and to have a little fun,
Kelley Garcia dreamed up a very cool idea to
beat those winter blahs — The Burque
Brewery Tour!
For those of you who are unenlightened like
me, the word Burque is a nickname for our
fair city of Albuquerque and the first stop
of the tour will be at the HallenBrick
Brewery on Saturday, December 12 @ 11:00 a.m.
This run is purely for fun and will be a 5K
course following the same route as the
Thanksgiving run that also begins at
HallenBrick.
There is no charge for the fun run, but
everyone will be asked to contribute a few
dollars to order pizza from Pizza 9 (that
offers a gluten-free crust) which will be
delivered by the time some us finish the
course. After the run, everyone can purchase
their own beer to wash down the pizza and
warm up our insides after the run (or I guess
the more adventuresome of us could start
drinking before
the run, but we are not responsible if you
get lost!)
We will be hosting more of these during the
winter months leaving from various breweries
around town, so keep an eye on the newsletter
for more details on Stop 2 of the Burque
Brewery Tour. Don’t miss out on the
fun! And, as always,
please drink responsibly and designate a
driver…
