The 2011
Women-in-Training Program begins on Saturday, April 30, 2011
 
Women-in-Training
is
a
10-week
program to train beginning women runners to run their
first 5K. An intermediate running program and a walking program
have also been added in recent years due to popular demand.
The group meets at Mariposa Basin Park on the west side on Saturday
mornings at 7:00 am. There is a short talk each week on various
running topics followed by a warm up, group run, and stretching session.
Victor
and
Kennalee
Nemudrov
started this popular program in 1993, and they
now have close to 200 participants each year.

What?
The Albuquerque Road Runners Women-In-Training Program
is a 10 week program designed to train women runners to run THEIR FIRST 5K RACE,
the
Albuquerque Road Runner's Women's
Distance Festival,
in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The participants meet for weekly
group runs or walks and meet guest speakers knowledgeable on running
related subjects. Members of the Albuquerque Road Runners
lead a variety of warm-up and running exercises designed to help new
runners. Monthly training schedules are also provided. All
participants are recognized for their accomplishment during an awards
banquet at the conclusion of this 10 week program.

Who?
Women of all ages and abilities are invited to participate in this
program. Abilities range from walkers to the very competitive
female runner.

Where
and
When? The training group meets and runs at Mariposa
Basin Park in Taylor Ranch on Saturdays at 7:00 AM. To get to Mariposa
Basin Park, drive west on Montano Rd. from Coors Blvd. until you get to
traffic signal at Montano Rd. and Taylor Ranch Rd. Turn right and
travel about 1 block, turn left on Kachina St. Entrance to the
Park is on the immediate right off of Kachina St. It is next to
The Shoppes at Taylor Ranch.
